On being natural vs. using pre-scripted material

I do not wanna be a social robot!

One point that I strongly agree with Mehow is that the debate on being natural v. using pre-scripted routines is irrelevant. The man who is interested in becoming a more interesting social person has to keep an open mind to learn new skills and do things differently from what he has been doing his entire life. Learning some canned material as a training wheel can only bring benefits when properly used.

The Mehow Model

After this brief general theory, Mehow introduces the structure of his model. It is a very simple one, consisting of four phases:

1) Opening (15 seconds), when the conversation starts;
2) Attraction (3 minutes), attracting the attention of the woman you are interested in (the “target”) and also befriending her friends;
3) Isolation, which to me does not exactly seem to be a phase, but rather one movement that is necessary to isolate the target from her friends and work on the fourth phase;
4) Comfort, where the most important work is done.

Get the Girl! also makes heavy use of terms coined by pickup gurus Mystery and Lovedrop such as “IOIs – Indicators of Interest” and “IODs – Indicators of Disinterest”.

The 30 attractive qualities of men

Mehow starts by listing 30 attractive qualities that the women look for in men. He does so by using short descriptions of each of these qualities as bullet points. There is not the intention of going deep into each of the concepts, some of which may not be easy to be grasped by the beginner, but which are quite familiar by those already familiar with the self-development and seduction community.

The reason Mehow does not go into detail is simple: first, it could take one entire book to properly explore each of these attractive qualities into detail. Second, he expressly recognizes that such is a “long list of stuff to master” and that his method is an easy and quick one to display such elements by using communication and subcommunication techniques.

While there is lots of truth in this statement, one important consideration that has to be added is that looks can matter in your inner game. In other words: a man with low self-esteem because he believes himself not to be good-looking enough will have difficulty in taking action and subcommunicate confidence.

In this section Mehow gives props to David DeAngelo, author of Double Your Dating and other seduction products, for his famous quote “Attraction is not a choice”. The interpretation of this statement, by Mehow, is that attraction will naturally happen with the right skills to subcommunicate qualities in the emotional level – and not the logical one, which guys should stay away from!

Methodology

Get the Girl! is solid material. Mehow does not use marketing strategies to oversell his method. It is clear that it is necessary to read the entire material and then consistently practice each of the steps gradually until the results in about six months by going out 3 times a week. In my own experience, this is a very realistic period of time if theory is really applied into practice – and maybe Mehow was even conservative, because if the guy is actually putting the method into practice consistently at least 3 times a week, for many cases the results will appear in less than 6 months.
